Toward the turn of the first century, John was one of the few left who had walked with Jesus, experiencing the miracles and learning his names.

John wrote so that his readers would know that Jesus the Messiah, fully human and able to save them from their sin.

He also wanted them to know Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine, present at Creation and powerful enough to be present in their daily lives.

Jesus healed blind and lame children, he cast out demons, he fed the hungry multitudes and he even raised the dead.
