Longer Bio

Anne Marie knows all about fear, worry and shame. She understands the emotional toll those emotions can take. She has found the antidote: resting in a relationship with Christ based on his love for her, and her surrender to his plans for her life. Every day, Anne Marie spends time with her heavenly Father, believing that He will lead her into His plans for her life.

For 30 years, Anne Marie has led a Bible study for women in her neighborhood who want to grow beyond casual Christianity to pursue the lives God has for them. She and her husband, Mark, teach a Sunday school class at their church where class members can discuss how Bible truths apply to their lives today. Anne Marie leads both groups to pray for each other and for the communities they live in.

When the church Anne Marie attends had to move to online services, one of the leaders asked if she could send three emails a week so that church staff could connect with the congregation. In the past five years, the team sending those emails has grown to five people. Anne Marie focuses on the weekly devotion. She shares the writing and proofing duties with three of the others while one of the team members focuses on designing each of the emails.

Anne Marie has worked for and volunteered with numerous non-profit organizations. She recently wrapped up a 40–year career at Cru, a non-profit dedicated to taking the gospel of Jesus to the ends of the earth. She wrote stories about people around the world who trusted God to live in them and through them. She traveled to Ecuador and wrote a story about high school students who were growing in their faith. She also traveled to Romania and wrote about Roma Gypsies who showed the Jesus Film to their relatives in nearby villages. Each new village picked up the mantle and continued showing the film.

One of her favorite stories happened when she and Mark traveled to Nepal. They followed a highway as far as it would go, then walked on a path and forded a river to reach a village where a man and his wife told an amazing story. Previously, she had a tumor on her throat. He spent time and money taking her to witch doctors who couldn't heal her. Finally, a friend from a nearby village told him Jesus could heal his wife.

So, he and his wife prayed to Jesus, and he healed her. The cancer went away. Everyone in the village decided they wanted to pray to Jesus, too. When our staff members heard about it, they visited the village and taught the people there how to follow Christ. Now, the village has a thriving church, and the man who told the story became the pastor.

Now that she has retired, Anne Marie spends her days studying the Bible and writing so that her readers can find life by trusting Christ. While Anne Marie doesn’t enjoy doing the hard work of writing, she enjoys the thrill of having written. She holds a certificate in Bible from the Institute for Biblical Studies.

Living in the magical land of Orlando, she's married to Mark and has two adult children. She enjoys visiting lighthouses and hiking the Great Florida Birding Trail with Mark.
